Overview Kirman rugs

Kirman rug - detailed and accurate floral decorations

Rugs from the Persian city of Kirman shine in vibrant colors and look very lively due to their realistic floral patterns. Particularly famous are unique pieces with a large open space around the ornament.

Origin of Persian Kirman

From the city of Kirman comes the oriental rug named after the city. The knotting of rugs in this city is said to date back to the Safavids in the 16th century. Besides, the city is also known for its now defunct scarf production. Just in the sixties and seventies of the last century many Kirman rugs were exported to Europe and decorate until today large country houses. A particularly old and large Kirman rug from the 17th century was sold at a London auction in 2005 for over seven million euros. Previously, this rug was listed in an Augsburg auction house at just 900? Thus, this rug is considered the most expensive Persian rug in the world. However, you do not have to expect such a high purchase price when ordering from us, because such a rug is unfortunately reserved exclusively for museums or very exclusive private collections. Today's knotted Kirman has a similar magnificent appearance as the Isfahan rug, but is somewhat cheaper and also more durable. This makes them particularly suitable for everyday use, while still giving a room a classy and exclusive feel.

Special patterns of Kirman rug

The so-called Kirman mirror carpets are considered extraordinarily majestic. These are knotted as fine floral patterns and the ornament in the center is surrounded by a large open space, which makes these rugs particularly magnificent. The Kirman Laver, on the other hand, is also knotted in fine floral patterns, but in addition it is completely patterned and has no open space. The colors of Kirman rugs can vary greatly. However, the basic colors are usually green, red and blue.
